NORFOLK, Va. -- The ODU Lady Monarchs (5-5-3, 1-1-2) tied the University of Delaware (4-3-3, 1-1-2) Sunday afternoon, 0-0. Rookie goalkeeper Bri Alvarado collected her fourth career shutout, making three saves in the game.

Old Dominion controlled much of the game offensively, outshooting the Fightin' Blue Hens 17-7, including five overtime shots, but neither team pieced together a scoring effort in 110 minutes of play.

Delaware's senior goalkeeper Annie Bevan made six saves in the game as Old Dominion got shots on frame from six different players. It was a shot that was not saved that was the best opportunity for ODU, though, as rookie Ashlee Coutu was able to get a header over Bevan's outstretched arms toward the goal, but it glanced off the crossbar and was cleared by the Delaware defense.

ODU's rookie goalkeeper also kept the Delaware offense in check, a team that is averaging over 1.50 goals per game. It was the first time this season UD was held scoreless in a CAA match. Alvarado posted her fourth shutout of the season and lowered her goals against average to 0.72.

The defense in front of Alvarado, led by sophomores Lisa Bernardini, Rachael Carroll and seniors Brittney Kortz, Saratu Dodo and Samantha Brennan continue to lock down the home field. The defense has four shutouts at home and have allowed one goal or fewer in six of the seven contests at the ODU Soccer Stadium.

Both teams earn a point in the CAA standings and remain tied with five points in the standings. Old Dominion now hits the road for a four-game conference swing, starting with the 4-0 Hofstra Pride, atop the CAA standings. Kick-off against the Pride is set for 7:00 pm on Friday, October 9.
