NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion junior women's tennis player Nadine Fahoum pulls in her second Monarch of the Week honor after winning the 2009 ITA/Wilson Atlantic Regional Singles Championship. Fahoum won the singles title and will advance to play in the 2009 ITA Indoor National Championships at Yale University next week.

Fahoum went 6-0 in singles action, defeating UVa's Erin Vierra in the finals. Four of her victories came against seeded individuals including second seeded Lindsey Hardenbergh from UVa. She was never stretched to a third set, winning all her matches in straight sets, capped by a 6-2, 6-2 final in the championship match.

She becomes just the second Lady Monarch to win the ITA Regional Championship, following the footsteps of her assistant coach Nataly Cahana-Fleishman (winner in 2000 and 2003). The national championship event will begin on November 5 in New Haven, Conn. with a final culminating on November 8 at 1:00 p.m.

Not only did the 116th ranked Lady Monarch win the singles title, but she advanced to her second ITA Regional Final in doubles action. Her and teammate Joanna Dobrowolska cruised through the doubles draw, including getting a win over the top-seeded pairing in the tournament to reach the finals. The Lady Monarchs run fell just short, losing to Marshall's second-seeded pairing, 8-6.

Last season, Fahoum teamed with Charleen Haarhoff to win the Regional Tournament in doubles. This is the second time the ODU junior has been named Monarch of the Week. She won earlier this season after winning a singles title and defeating two nationally ranked players at the Wake Forest Invitational
