NORFOLK, VA--The Old Dominion Soccer Monarchs (7-3-2/2-2-2) and the Pride of Hofstra (6-5-1/4-1-1) battled to a 0-0 tie aftertwo overtimes and 110 minutes Saturday afternoon at the ODU Soccer Complex.
The match played evenly as both teams took 14 shots and six shots on goal. ODU's goalkeeper Evan Newton (Virginia Beach, Va.) came up withfive saves on the day, while Hofstra's Greg Cumpstone had six.
ODU's Bobby Foglesong (Fredericksburg, VA.) and Ambane Emmanuel (Cameroon) had shots that were stopped late by Cumpstone. Newton also stopped Hofstra'sSteven Ehrichs and Rory McCrea's shot. Newton now has six shutouts on the season.
The Monarchs hit the road this week with a match at James Madison Wednesday night and at Northeastern next Saturday night.
