CHARLESTON, SC-- The College of Charleston (3-0) defeated the Monarchs of Old Dominion (2-1),2-0 in the Aaron Olitsky Memorial Soccer Classic Sunday. Three Monarchs earned All-TournamentHonors.
Sophomore defender Tommy Webb (Auckland, NZ) , senior midfielders Nane Joseph (Cameroon) and Bobby Foglesong (Fredericksburg, VA.)were named to the All-Tournament squad.
John Bello and Kareem Yearwood scored goals for the Cougars. Bello's goal came in the first halfOff a deflection. In the second half Kareem Yearwood hit a shot inside the box with an assist fromMatt Morris to complete the Cougars scoring.
College of Charleston outshot ODU, 11-6, while ODU had more corners, 6-4. Clark Hankins got theShutout for C of C along with two saves, while ODU's keeper Evan Newton had six saves.
The Monarchs return home to host the 34th annual Stihl Soccer Classic. ODU will play Niagara at 7:00 following the William and Mary-Templematch which will start at 4:30 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex.
