DURHAM, N.C. - Senior midfielder Katie Ueberroth (Stevens, Pa.) tallied a career-high three goals, including the game-winner in overtime to push the Old Dominion field hockey team past No. 10 Duke, 3-2, Sunday afternoon at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium.

Ueberroth, who had one goal on the year entering the game, broke her career-best of two goals, which she had accomplished three previous times. Senior goalkeeper Kelly Driscoll (West Chester, Pa.) tied her career-high with 14 saves and she has made a combined 27 saves in the last two games for the Lady Monarchs.

Old Dominion picked up its first road win of the year and improves to 3-5 on the year, while Duke drops to 4-3 overall. The win also snaps a three-game losing steak for ODU against the Blue Devils.

Ueberroth got the Lady Monarchs off to a quick start, scoring off a feed from classmate Kathleen Shea (Elizaville, N.Y.) just over two minutes into the contest. The Blue Devils responded at the 23 minute mark as Amie Survilla tallied a score to send the game into the half tied at one.

After being held scoreless for 46 minutes, ODU got back on the scoreboard as Ueberroth tallied her second goal of the day off a pass from senior Alyschia Conn (Peach Bottom, Pa.). With ODU leading 2-1 and only 10 minutes remaining, Dukes Megan Deakins tallied the equalizer to send the game into overtime.

In overtime, Duke controlled play early, getting off three shots. ODU took advantage of its only overtime shot though as Ueberroth blasted a shot past Duke goalkeeper Samantha Nelson to seal the win for the Lady Monarchs.

Old Dominion will return home September 25 to begin Colonial Athletic Association play against Northeastern. The game is set to begin at 5 p.m. at the Powhatan Sports complex.
