NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion football team scrimmaged for the second time this preseason at Foreman Field.

The Monarchs encountered rain for the first time this preseason as the scrimmage was moved up due to the storm front moving into the area.

"Honestly, we could use this," noted head coach Bobby Wilder. "You really do need to be prepared for weather like this".

Scoring drives included:
An 11-yard pass from Bobby Cooper (Davidsonville, Md.) to tight end Kai Blanco (Alexandria, Va.)

A one-yard run by running back Desmond Williams (Windsor, N.C.)

Wide Reciever Reid Evans (Hampton, Va.) catching a 26-yard pass from Thomas DeMarco (Palm Desert, Calif.)

A 42-yard reception by wide reciever Nick Mayers (Va. Beach, Va.) from Cooper

Kicker Drew Hareza (McDonald, Pa.) converted all his field goal attempts (a pair of 25-yard and a 27-yard attempt).

Hareza also made all three of his extra point attempts.

Defensively, highlights include:
Interceptions by lineman Michael R. Williams (Manassas, Va.) and defensive back Carvin Powell (Chesapeake, Va.). Williams brought the ball upfield for 12 yards.

Linebacker Mychael McJunkins (Kansas City, Kan.) totaled five tackles, including a pair for loss totaling eight yards.

Lineman Andrew Turner (Va. Beach, Va.) also made five stops, including three solo tackles.

Monarch Moments:

The Monarch Jog: The ODU Football Team is planning to do the "Monarch March" through campus on game day from the Powhatan Sports Complex to Foreman Field. With the scrimmages, the Monarchs are doing everything like they would do on game day, including the march. However, this evening the march took an interesting turn. "We started walking," described Wilder of today's march, "and the whole campus is swamped, so we had to change the route. We finally get to 49th street and I see lightening. I yell `Go' and we are jogging down the street."

Student Tickets: Just as a reminder, student tickets are available starting next Monday - August 24th - at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. Those students looking to line up or camp out can begin lining up in the grass behind the Ted starting on Sunday, August 23rd at 7 p.m. Remember to have your ODU student ID in hand.
