NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion (21-23) defeated the University of Richmond Tuesday night, 11-4as they pounded out 13 hits. The Monarchs have won nine of their last 12 games.

Jake McAloose (Virginia Beach, Va.), the CAA Co-Player of the Week led with three more hitson the night to raise his batting average to .394. He knocked in two runs with a single in the firstto score Gerard Hall (Washington, DC.) and a double in the seventh to plate Hall again.McAloose ranks eighth in the CAA in hitting.

The big blow for the Monarchs came on a three-run homer from freshman Josh Wright (Bridgewater, VA.) with Max Most (Port Washington, NY.) and McAloose aboard in the third inning. It was Wright's team leading tenth home run of the season.

Max Most, Gerard Hall and Joe Velleggia (Monkton, MD. ) each had two this on the night, while Hall also knocked in two runs.

Lefthander Cory Toth (Chincoteague, VA.) picked up the win with five strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work. Brandon Smith (Chesapeake, VA. )and Phil McCarthy (Chesapeake, Va. )finished up without allowing a run.

The Spiders were led by Phil Ruzbarsky who knocked in two of Richmond's four runs in theSixth inning. Matt Zink and Chris Cowell also knocked in a run each for Richmond.

The Monarchs return to action on Thursday for their final three-game CAA series of the regularSeason against UNC Wilmington. Game time Thursday if 7 p.m. at the Bud Metheny BaseballComplex.
