HARRISONBURG, VA-- Old Dominion (9-17/3-5) exploded for ten runs in the fifth to defeat James Madison (16-14/4-4)Saturday afternoon, 14-10. Junior shortstop Gerard Hall (Washington, DC.) and junior thirdbaseman Jake McAloose (Virginia Beach, VA.) each knocked in three runs for the Monarchs.

Senior righthander Brady Burchill (Hope, ND) picked up his second straight win as he pitched the first six innings. Brandon Smith (Chesapeake, Va.) and Austin Wright (Virginia Beach, Va.) pitched the last three innings.

JMU jumped out to a 4-0 lead thanks to a three-run homer by Trevor Knight. The Monarchs cameback with two in the third on a leadoff solo homer by Josh Wright and an RBI single by Gerard Hallwhich scored Kenny Stoneback (Colonial Heights, Va.). JMU added two more runs in the bottom of the third to lead by 6-2.

ODU then scored ten runs in the fifth thanks to two runs scoring on a wild pitch one on a balk,one on anerror along with a two-run double by Gerard Hall, and RBI hits from Edgar Hernandez, and Kenny Stoneback. Jake McAloose got an RBI with a bases loaded walk,and Brett Harris (Chesapeake, Va. knocked in a run in that inning with a sacrifice fly.

Gerard Hall, Josh weright and Kenny Stoneback each had three hits on the day, while Stonebackscored four times.

JMU was led by Matt Townsend with four hits, and Matt Browning with three hits. Trevor Knightknocked in three runs and fanned eight batters in 4.1 innings of relief.

The third game of the series will be Sunday at 1 p.m.
