Monarchs Sign Two Golfing Standouts

NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion University head men's golf coach Murray Rudisill announced todaythat Zach Hall (Burgess, VA.-North Cumberland HS), the Virginia Class A State Champion and Tory Henderson (Pendleton, FL.), a standout at the Ledbetter Golf Academy have signed letters-of-intent to play golf for the 2009-10 season.

"Zach and Tory are both skilled golfers who have lots of tournament experience," said Rudisill. "It isalways great to get one of the top Virginia players to come to Old Dominion, and Zach has the abilityto make an immediate impact as a freshman. Tory comes to us from the Ledbetter Academy and is another outstanding golfer who is ready for the demands of collegiate golf. We are excited aboutsigning both players."

Henderson attends the Ledbetter Golf Academy where he placed third in Innisbrook after shooting73-72. He also took third at the FCWT (Future Collegiate World Tour) played at the Universityof Florida after shooting 73-77. Overall, Henderson has a 73 stroke average.

"I chose ODU because of coach Rudisill who I believe can help me improve my game," said Henderson.The campus, the team and the Hampton Roads area was also a factor. "

The 6-4, 175-pounder is the son of Cathy and Peter Henderson. He plans to major in business atODU.

Hall won the Virginia Class A Championship in a playoff at after shooting 75-73. He also shot 72 to win the Regional title. As a junior, Hall placed eighth in the State Championships, and won both the region and district Crowns. In the Virginia-West Virginia Match play, Hall defeated the West Virginia Match Play Champion. He reached the round of 16 in the Junior Match Play tournament. His stroke average this year is 66.

"Old Dominion is close to home and I have heard so many good things about the school and itsGolf program," said Hall. "I am very excited, and looking forward to the opportunity to play for coach Rudisill."

The 5-9, 170-pounder plans to major in sports management at ODU. He is the son of Tamara andAndy Hall.
