HARRISONBURG, VA--The James Madison Dukes (16-13/4-3) scored five runs in the first inning to defeatOld Dominion (8-17/2-5) Friday afternoon in the first of a three-game Colonial Athletic AssociationSeries.

The Monarchs were led by Donnie Corsner who hit his fifth home run of the season with Jake McAloose aboard in te fourth inning. McAloose also singled in Max Most in the fifth.

In the bottom of the first inning, Matt Townsend singled home Alex Foltz, then McKinnon Langston doubled home Trevor Knight and Matt Browning finished the scoring with a three-run homer or the right field fence to make it 5-0. The Dukes then got solo homers from Bryan Lescanec in the sixth and Jake Lowery in the eighth.

Max Most led ODU with three hits, and McAloose had two. Foltz, Langston, Lowery and David Herbekeach had two hits for JMU.

JMU pitcher Turner Phelps remained unbeaten with a 6-0 record. He fanned five with three walks andgave up eight ODU hits. Kevin Munson pitched the last two innings to pick up his sixth save of the year.

ODU freshman Brett Harris pitched seven innings with just one walk and four strikeouts.

The two teams play Saturday at 1 p.m. in Long Field/Mauck Stadium.
