Norfolk, Va. - The Old Dominion University's women's tennis team improved to 2-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association and 15-4 overall with Saturday's 5-2 victory over visiting UNC Wilmington.
The Lady Monarchs captured the doubles with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Playing together at No. 2, Irina Dementyeva and Joanna Dobrowolska defeated UNCW's 64th ranked duo of Lauren Isenhour and Kayla Schwenk, 8-5.
In singles action the Lady Monarchs won four of the six matches, all coming in straight sets. Nadine Fahoum defeated Kayla Schwenk 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 and at No. 2 Charleen Haarhoff earned her 20th win of the season with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Priscilla Roberts. Dobrowolska and Dementyeva recorded wins at No. 3 and No. 5 respectively to provide the final 5-2 margin.
ODU returns to action this Wednesday when the Lady Monarchs host the University of Richmond at 2 p.m.
