Kelly Kimener & Lisa Bernardini Earn CAA Weekly Awards

NORFOLK, Va. -- Senior Kelly Kimener (Oakton, Va.) was named CAA Player of the Week and freshman Lisa Bernardini (Langhorne, Pa.) Rookie of the Week by the conference office today. Old Dominion (3-0) swept the conference honors behind solid offensive effort from the pair of Lady Monarch midfielders. Kimener scored 11 points and Bernardini added nine in two wins this week.

Kimener, a senior from Oakton, Virginia, joined the Old Dominion Top Ten lists for career points, goals scored and assists with her week. She is now 9th all-time in assists with 31, 10th all-time in goals scored with 88 and tied for 10th all-time in points, with 119.

She scored 11 points this week, including a career-high seven against UMBC with four goals and three assists. She also tied her career-high in draw controls against the Retrievers with five. Earlier in the week, she posted three goals and an assist against Richmond, who was receiving votes earlier in the year.

True freshman Lisa Bernardini, from Langhorne, Pennsylvania, was named Rookie of the Week after nine points in two games this week. Against Richmond, Bernardini posted five points, with four goals and an assist; she followed that up with a three-goal performance against UMBC. She has scored on nine of her ten shots this season and is third on the team in scoring after three games this year.

Old Dominion has started the season with three wins and will head to Chapel Hill and Philadelphia for a pair of games this week. ODU will face #9 North Carolina on Wednesday at 5:00 pm and will then travel to St. Joseph's for a game Saturday, March 21 at Noon.
