Norfolk, Va. – The 63rd ranked ODU women’s tennis team extended its winning streak to six matches and earned its first conference win of the season with a 7-0 victory visiting James Madison Friday night at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center. With the win the Lady Monarchs improved to 8-2, while the Dukes fell to 1-3.
The Lady Monarchs easily captured the doubles point after winning all three matches rather easily by scores of 8-2, 8-2 and 8-3.
In singles action, the Lady Monarchs won all six matches in straight sets. Nadine Fahoum, Irina Dementyeva, Joanna Dobrowolska and Margarita Spicin all extended their individual winning streak to six matches as well, winning at their respective positions. Senior Charleen Haarhoff won her fourth straight match with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Rebecca Erickson at No. 2.
ODU returns to the courts on Sunday, February 15 when the Lady Monarchs travel to Maryland to take on the Terrapins. The match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
