ODU Defeats Drexel, 63-53 Behind Lee and Adams

PHILADELPHIA, PA-- Gerald Lee scored 23 points and hauled down 10 rebounds and Jonathan Adamsadded 12 to lead the Monarchs (15-8/8-5) to a63-53 CAA win over Drexel ( 12-10/8-5) Saturday night. ODU hasnow won four straight games.

The victory for ODU puts the Monarchs in a three-way tie with Drexel and JamesMadison. JMU defeated George Mason earlier today. ODU is now 5-5 on the road.

For ODU's Lee, it was his third game in the last four with 23 points, hissecond straight double-double and third this season.

ODU held the Dragons to just 14 first half points on 5-25 (.200) shooting, while ODUhit .524 (11-21). For the game, the Monarchs finished at .477 (21-44) and Drexelwas .321 (18-56).

ODU also dominated the boards at 36-30. In addition to Lee's game high of 10, FrankHassell added six boards.

ODU led by as many as 18 (54-36), with 3:28 left. Thanks to three late Jamie Harristreys, Drexel got to within eight, 61-53 with 16 seconds left.

Seven of the nine Monarchs who played tonight scored. Ben Finney had eight, DariusJames scored nine with a team high four assists.

Drexel was led by Jamie Harris with 20 points. He hit six -of-11 from beyond thearc. Gerald Coles scored 14, while Evan Neisler hauled down nine rebounds.

The 14 points by Drexel in the first half was the fewest in the first half by anODU opponent since Dec. 11, 1982 when VMI only scored 11.

The Monarchs play at Hofstra on Tuesday night. That contest will be televisedlive on ESPNU which is channel 232 in Hampton Roads.
