Monarchs Roll Past UNCW, 87-57

NORFOLK, VA-- Junior guard Marsharee Neely (Greensboro, NC.) scored a career high 20 points and red-shirt freshman Kent Bazemore added a career high 11 points to help lead the Monarchs(11-7/4-4) to an 87-57 CAA victory over UNC Wilmington Wednesday evening.

Four Monarchs scored in double figures on the night. Besides Neely's 20 andBazemore's 11, Ben Finney (Portsmouth, VA.) scored 14 with a game high eightrebounds and Keyon Carter scored 11 with six boards.

UNCW committed 21 turnovers on the night as Frank Hassell (Chesapeake, Va.) ledwith three steals for ODU, while Ben Finney, freshman Trian Iliadis (Australia),and Marquel De Lancey (Alexandria, Va.) had two steals each.

Darius James (Virginia Beach, VA.) tied a career high with nine assists, whileFrank Hassell was second on the team with seven rebounds. De Lancey and Bazemorealso handed out three assists tonight.

ODU shot .571 (36-63) from the floor while UNCW was .447 (21-47). The Monarchsalso outrebounded the Seahawks, 38-26. Neely was seven-for-nine from the field,while Bazemore was a perfect five-for-five, and Carter was five-for seven.

ODU led by as many as 36 (85-49) with 2:16 left in the game.

UNCW was led by Dominique Lacy with 14 points and seven rebounds, while KevonMoore scored nine points off the bench. All-CAA guard Chad Tomko was held tofive.

Gerald Lee's (Finland) 18-game double-figure streak came to an end as he scoredseven points with three rebounds in 21 minutes of play.

ODU hosts Northeastern Saturday night at 7 p.m. in a ComCast Sports televisedcontest. Northeastern defeated George Mason, 58-57 tonight.
