Old Dominion Falls to George Mason On the Road, 61-53

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) -Darryl Monroe had his third straight double-double as George Mason remained perfect at home and in the Colonial Athletic Association with a 61-53 win over Old Dominion on Saturday.

ODU was led by sophomore Ben Finney with 16 points and five rebounds. JuniorAll-CAA forward Gerald Lee scored 15 with three assists and six rebounds.Senior Jonathan Adams finished with 12 points and a team high seven rebounds.

Monroe scored 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Patriots (12-3, 5-0) remained tied atop the conference standings with Northeastern. George Mason, which won for the ninth straight time at home, has won four straight games and seven of its last eight overall.

Ben Finney had 16 points and Gerald Lee added 15 points for the Monarchs (9-6, 2-3), who dropped their second straight game.

Old Dominion drew to within four points with just under five minutes to play, but a 3-pointer by Cam Long and a tip-in by Monroe helped push the lead back to 55-46. George Mason, which limited the Monarchs to 38 percent shooting from the field, has held 11 straight opponents under 70 points. Mason shot .500 (21-42) from thefield.

Jonathan Adams hit five of seven shots from the field, while Finney was six-for-11.Mason outrebounded ODU, 36-30 on the night.

ODU freshman Chris Cooper from Woodbridge, VA. played a career high 19 minutes with two steals, two rebounds and a blocked shot.

Darius James led ODU with four assists on the night. ODU forced the Patriots into14 turnovers. Chris Cooper and Ben Finney each came up with two steals each forthe Moanrchs.

The Monarchs return to action on Tuesday night when they host the Panthers ofGeorgia State. The 9 p.m. contest will be televised live on ESPNU.
