NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion men's and women's swimming teams defeated George Washington over the weekend. The Old Dominion women's squad won all 13 events of its events en-route to a 156-102 victory over the Colonials. On the men's side, the Monarchs improved to 4-0 on the season and won their 14 consecutive meet with a 159-109 win over George Washington. The ODU men's team took home wins in 10 of the 13 events.
The women's 200 medley relay team highlighted the event. The team consisting of sophomore April Barrientos (Va. Beach, Va.), freshman Erla Dogg Haraldsdottir (Njardvik, Iceland), transfer Agata Nowak (Gorzow, Poland), and rookie Emma Forbes (Peekskill, N.Y.) collected the third fastest time in school history compiling a 1:48.37 finish in the event.
Barrientos collected two other wins in the meet registering the top times in the 50 back (26.98) and 100 back (57.86). 200 medley relay teammate Nowak also two more victories taking top times in the 100 fly (58.18) and 50 fly (26.21).
Senior captain Jennifer Sargent (Chesterfield, Va.) also helped the Lady Monarchs to victory with a pair of first place finishes. She hit the wall first in both the 50 breast (31.33) and 200 IM (2:13.27).
On the men's side, three-time CAA Swimmer of the Week Arni Mar Arnason (Msfellsbaer, Iceland) picked up a trio of victories. Arnason placed first in the 100 breast (58.07), as the lone swimmer to come in under a minute's time, in the 200 free (1:42.46), and in the 200 IM (1:55.06).
Senior captain Johan Lundberg (Fjaras, Sweden) also picked up a pair of Monarch victories in the 50 breast (27.67) and 50 fly (24.07).
The Old Dominion men's and women's swimming and diving team will embark on its annual winter training trip to Florida beginning on December 14th.
