KINGS POINT, N.Y. -- ODU is currently in seventh place at the MAISA Sloop Championship, with 44 total points after the first day of racing. A quartet of juniors totaled 44 points for ODU through seven completed races and will return to the water on Sunday looking for a bid into the ICSA Sloop National Championship.
Alan Alkins, John Shockey, Kevin Shockey and Michael Komar were the sailors for ODU, finishing with a regatta-high 2nd place finish in the fourth race. The Monarchs also grabbed three sixth place efforts and leads the 8th place Cornell team by five points headed into day two.
The NY Maritime team leads with 21 points, followed closely by St. Mary's (26), Hobart & William Smith (27) and a tie for fourth with Kings Point and Washington College both with 29 points.
