Swimming Kicks Off Davidison Invitational

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Old Dominion men's and women's swimming and diving team kicked off the Davidson Invitational with 1650 free and 800 free relay. The Lady Monarchs picked up a pair of third place finishes, while the men's 800 relay squad captured a second place finish.

Senior Kendra Hogg (Fairport, N.Y) placed third in the 1650 free with a time of 17:28.90.

The Lady Monarchs' 800 free relay squad, consisting of freshman Emma Forbes (Peekskill, N.Y.), junior Kelli North (Newport News, Va.), junior Elizaveta Mooiseva (Moscow, Russia), and freshman Madeline Stiles (Fairfax, Va.), placed third. The Lady Monarchs posted a time of 7:45.12.

Senior Kristofer Hagg (Skovde, Sweden) took a second place finish in the 1650 free. He hit the wall in a time of 16:25.00 behind first place finisher Merritt Peele from Davidson, who recorded the top time of 16:18.34.

The Monarchs' 800 free relay squad of Hagg, junior Kristian Ramkvist (Bjarred, Sweden), sophomore Steven Loccisano (Fredericksburg, Va.), and junior Chad Gangwer (Va. Beach, Va.), collected a time of 6:56.53 in the event for a second place time. Limestone registered the top time by recording an invite record of 6:49.90.

Action continues Saturday with the 200 free relay, 200 butterfly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, and 400 IM. Live stats are available here.
