GENEVA, N.Y. -- On a snowy Sunday morning, the ODU sailing team posted a 10th place finish at the Co-ed Atlantic Coast Championship. The fleet was ablet to get five races completed in each division and the Monarchs were led by junior Kyle Rogachenko in A division, posting an eighth place effort with Michael Komar and Alan Alkins.
Rogachenko combined with Komar for a win and then with Alkins for a second win, but also picked up a pair of 16th place finishes with his teammates to finish with 44 total points. The 44 was enough for an 8th place finish, just five points out of the top five in the division.
In B division, senior Michael Brown and Komar posted 54 points for a 13th place effort. The tandem finished with one top five finish and finished lower than 11th just once. Because of the shortened regatta, the 13th place finish sounds worse than it was, as the ODU boat was just 17 points back of a top five effort.
Combined the two boats posted 98 points for the tenth place finish. Twenty-two back of the top five, ODU closes the fall season with another top ten effort this season.
