NORFOLK, VA-- Keyon Carter (Riviera Beach, Fl.) scored 12 points, Gerald Lee (Uusikaupnki, Finland) added nine points with10 boards, followed by Darius James (Virginia Beach, Va.) with 10 points to lead the Monarchs of OldDominion to a 69-51 exhibition game win over Chowan University Tuesday eveningat the Ted Constant Convocation Center.
Carter, a 6-8 redshirt sophomore forward scored nine of his points in the first half while James scored seven of his in the second half.
All but one Monarch scored in the contest. Frank Hassell (Chesapeake, VA.) scored seven points withnine rebounds and Kent Bazemore (Kelford, NC. ) added eight points and three assists. Gerald Lee and Darius James also dished out three assists. James and Frank Hassell each came up with two steals on the night.
ODU dominated the boards with a 47-29 edge and shot .403 from the floor.Chowanshot .378 from the field and turned the ball over 18 times to ODU's 15.
The Monarchs led by 18 at halftime,38-20 and its biggest lead of the night was 23, 69-46 with2:04 left in the game.
The Braves were led by Jaleel Nelson and Charles Rhodes with 12 points each,followed by AAron Scott with 10 points.
ODU returns to action Saturday night against Virginia State for their secondand final exhibition game before the start of the season on NOv. 16 at Charlotte.
