No. 25 Women's Basketball Rolls To 53-Point Exhibition Win

NORFOLK, Va. -- The No. 25 Old Dominion women's basketball rolled to a 53-point exhibition win Monday night at the Ted Constant Convocation Center with a 79-26 win over the University of D.C.

Four Lady Monarchs reached double figures led by Preseason First Team All-CAA selection Tiffany Green (Chesapeake, Va.) with 17 points. Green went 5-of-6 from the floor and 7-of-9 from the stripe. The CAA leader in blocks a year ago also registered five rejections on the evening.

The Old Dominion defense held the Firebirds to 20 percent shooting and the bench to just four points. LaQuanda Brandon chipped in eight points to lead the University of D.C.

The Lady Monarchs used a 22-4 run, including a string of 13 unanswered points, to take a 24-6 edge with 7:43 remaining in the first half. Old Dominion cruised to a 40-12 halftime lead and ended the second half outscoring the Firebirds, 39-14.

Joining Green in double figures were sophomore Jasmine Parker (Norfolk, Va.) with 16, junior Jessica Canady (Williamsburg, Va.) with 15, and junior Jazzmin Walters (Norfolk, Va.) adding in 11. Canady, a Preseason Second Team All-CAA selection, went a perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe.

The two Greens led Old Dominion on the boards as the Lady Monarchs outboarded the University of D.C., 41-29. Tiffany and Shadasia Green (Patterson, N.J,) hauled in nine rebounds a piece.

The Old Dominion women's basketball team returns to action in the final exhibition showing of the year next Monday, November 10th against Shaw University at 7:00 p.m.
