ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP GAME: Old Dominion hosts No. 6 North Carolina in the annual scholarship game on Saturday. There will be a $5.00 admission to the game with the proceeds to benefit the Intercollegiate Foundation for Field Hockey Scholarships.

SENIOR DAY: Sunday's contest with William & Mary will not only be the 2008 regular season finale for the Lady Monarchs, but also "Senior Day". Senior Katelyn Smither will be honored prior to the start of the game.

WHERE ARE WE IN THE STANDINGS?: Next week is the 2008 CAA Tournament to be held at the former National Training Center in Virginia Beach. Entering the weekend, James Madison has the No. 1 seed locked up. If Drexel, who will face Delaware on Friday and Towson on Sunday, goes 2-0 or 1-1, they will be the No. 2 seed. If the Dragons go 0-2, they are the No. 3 seed if Old Dominion defeats William & Mary and the No. 2 seed if the Lady Monarchs lose to William & Mary.Old Dominion is the No. 3 seed by defeating William & Mary and Drexel goes 2-0 or 1-1. Old Dominion is the No. 4 seed with a loss to William & Mary. Seeds 5 and 6 are still up in the air depending on the remaining games.

ABOUT OLD DOMINION: Old Dominion snapped a five-game losing streak with a 4-0 shutout against Virginia Commonwealth in its last outing to up their overall mark to 7-11 overall and 5-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association. Senior Katelyn Smither continues to lead her squad having totaled seven goals and an assist for a team-leading 15 points. Sophomore Loran Hatch is second on the squad in scoring with two goals, three assists, and seven point. A trio of Lady Monarchs are tied for third in scoring with juniors Kathleen Shea, Katie Ueberroth, and Alyschia Conn each with six points apiece. Shea and Conn have three goals each while Ueberroth has two goals and two assists under her belt. Senior Kelly Driscoll, the mainstay in the ODU cage, enters the weekend with a 1.97 goals against average and .783 save percentage. Driscoll is 10th nationally in save percentage.

ABOUT NORTH CAROLINA: The Tar Heels, the 2007 NCAA Champions, enter Saturday's competition sporting a 12-4 overall mark and 3-2 record in the ACC. North Carolina just recently had a three-game win streak snapped as they fell 7-0 to top-ranked Maryland in theirry second-worst loss ever in school histo. The Tar Heels are led by Danielle Forword with 36 points with 16 points and four assists. She is second in the nation in goals per game and fifth in the nation in points per game. Britt van Beek is second on the Tar Heel stat sheet with 10 goals, two assists, and 22 points. A pair of Tar Heels have been spilting duties in the North Carolina cage. Jackie Kintzer enters the game with Old Dominion holding on to a 1.00 goal against average, sixth in the nation, and .743 save percentage. Brianna O'Donnell posts a 1.90 goals against average and .481 save percentage.

SERIES WITH NORTH CAROLINA: Old Dominion holds a 33-30-2 series lead over North Carolina. The Tar Heels won the last three meeings, including a 3-1 win in the first meeting of this year's home-and-home series. Old Dominion's last win over North Carolina was a 3-1 victory in October of 2006.

LAST TIME AGAINST NORTH CAROLINA: Following a 0-0 stalemate at the half, Old Dominion's Katie Ueberroth collected a rebound and found the back of the North Carolina cage early in the second half of action back on September 19th in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. However, North Carolina, the defending NCAA Champions, scored three unanswered goals, including back-to-back tallies within a minute's span, to edge the Lady Monarchs 3-1 at Francis E. Henry Stadium. North Carolina tied the game up at 1-1 in the game's 54th minute on a goal by the nation's number two leader in goals, Danielle Forword. Less than a minute later, Britt van Beek, gave the Tar Heels the lead on her game-winning stroke. The Tar Heels added in their third and final goal of the evening with a penalty corner.

ABOUT WILLIAM & MARY: The Tribe enters the weekend with a 6-11 overall and 4-3 mark in the CAA. William & Mary will host Longwood Friday night before making the trek down 64 and through the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel for Sunday's afternoon's contest. Jenna Cinalli leads the Tribe with six goals and two assists for 14 points. Cinalli is followed by Wesley Drew with three goals, seven assists, and 13 points. In goal, Carrie Thompson holds a 2.48 goals against average and a .675 save percentage.

SERIES WITH WILLIAM & MARY: Old Dominion holds a 37-12 advantage in the all-time series.

LAST TIME AGAINST WILLIAM & MARY: The Old Dominion field hockey team closed out the 2007 regular season by capturing its seventh shutout of the season in a 4-0 victory over William & Mary back on October 28, 2007. Old Dominion had a 3-0 advantage at the half thanks in part to two Lady Monarchs notching their first goals of the season. Former Lady Monarch Shannon Mobley collected the game-winner off a rebound in the eighth minute of play for her first goal of the year. At the 27 minute mark, Alyschia Conn also tallied her first goal of the season off a pass from Katelyn Smither. Nearly two minutes later, Katie Ueberroth scored ODU's third goal of the half. Old Dominion scored only once in the second half. Smither fired off a hard shot on a penalty corner for the 4-0 ODU advantage.
