RICHMOND, VA--Virginia Commonwealth University's (8-6-2/4-3-2) C.J. Gehin-Scott's second half goal lifted the Rams to a 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association win over the Monarchs of Old Dominion (8-6-2/5-3-1) Wednesday night at the Sports Backers Stadium. ODU remains in second place as Drexel lost to George Mason, while UNCWremains in first after beating JMU.

The Rams scored early in the second half when C.J. Gehin-Scott got a deflection from Joseph Habouschto take a 1-0 lead.

ODU dominated play in the first half, outshooting the Rams 10-2. Seven of the Monarch goals wereon goal shots. Steffen Rabben (Valdres, Norway), Trevor Banks (Madison, SI.) and Ambane Emmanuel (Cameroon) each had two first half shots on goal for ODU. VCU's Andrew Dykstra came up with seven saves in the half.

For the game, ODU outshot the Rams, 13-9 overall and 8-1 in shots on goal. VCU had five corner kicksto the Monarchs three.

The Monarchs return to the road on Saturday when they travel to Philadelphia to play Drexel at 7 p.m.
