NORFOLK, VA-- Junior forward Ambane Emmanuel's (Yaounde, Cameroon) goal with five minutes left in the second overtime period lifted the Monarchs of Old Dominion (7-5-2/4-2-1) to a 2-1 CAA victory over the Dukes of James Madison (6-6-2/3-4) Wednesday evening.
The two teams were scoreless in the first half with ODU taking the first lead 14 minutes left inregulation on a goal by Trevor Banks(Madison, WI.) with the assist coming from Steffen Rabben(Valdres, Norway) . A little over a minute later JMU got the equalizer as Nick Zimmerman hit one from over 20 yards to tie the match and send it to overtime.
In the second period, Rabben got the ball to Emmanuel to punched it through for the game winner.Nane Joseph (Cameroon) , Steffen Rabben and Haris Cekic(Ontario, Canada) each had shots on goals for ODU.
ODU outshot JMU, 16-14 while the Dukes had more shots on goals, 7-5. ODU sophomore keeperBrennan Kirkpatrick (Shreveport, LA. )came up with five saves on the night, while JMU's Justin Epperson had three.
The Monarchs return to action on Saturday night when they host Northeastern at7 p.m.
