ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- ODU finished 12th at the Navy Fall Intersectional this weekend, paced by junior Kyle Rogachenko in C division sailing. In four divisions of competition, ODU placed 9th in A division, 14th in B, 3rd in C and 14th in D. Seniors Mikey Brown and Alissa Ayres finished 9th in A division with 188 total points. All four divisions were able to complete 20 races over the weekend.
Rogachenko clearly led the team on the weekend, finishing third in the singlehanded C division. He finished with just 132 points in the 20 races, including two wins. He was among the top ten boats in 75% of the completed races and was among the top five in half.
In A division, Brown and Ayres grabbed 11 top ten finishes including one win. The pair finished with 188 points, good for 9th in the division.
Alan Alkins skippered the B division boat with Ashley Pellerito and Bryan Stout, finishing with 245 points. Pellerito and Alkins combined for six top ten finishes including a weekend high third place finish once.
Freshman Zach Kelchner also finished 14th in D division, with 234 points. He was in the top ten in seven races and grabbed two fourth place finishes as a high on the weekend.
As a team, ODU finished with 799 points in the four divisions, averaging just under a 10th place finish in the 80 completed races.
