Chapel Hill, N.C. - ODU's Aleksandr Seleznev and Tobias Fanselow both won their opening match of the day, before falling in the round of 32 at the ITA Mideast Regional in Chapel Hill. The duo's bid for a doubles title was also ended on the day just shy of the quarterfinals.
Seleznev began the day with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Andrew Brasseaux of Wake Forest in the round of 64, but the senior fell in the next round in a hard fought battle against 15th seed Clay Donato of North Carolina, 7-5, 7-6 (6).
Fanselow defeated No. 6 seed Clint Bowles of Florida State in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4, but could not escape Furman's Bo Ladyman who won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
Also joining Fanselow in the round of 64 is fellow Monarch Aleksandr Seleznev who will take on Andrew Brasseaux of Wake Forest tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
In doubles play the ninth seeded Monarch duo bowed out to University of Virginia's fifth seeded team of Houston Barrick and Sanam Singh by a score of 8-5.
