Second Place Soccer Monarchs Travel To Hofstra

The ODU Soccer Monarchs (6-4-2/3-1-1) travel to Hempstead, NY to take onthe Pride of Hofstra (2-7-3/1-2-2) Saturday night at 7 p.m. in a Colonial Athletic Association match up. ODU currently sits alone in second place of the CAA behind Northeastern with ten points.

The Monarchs are 4-0 on the road this year, 3-0 in the CAA. The series with the Pride is a tight one, with ODU leading the all-time series 6-5-1. Last year in Norfolk, ODU pulled out a 1-0 victory.

Leading the offensive attack for the Pride, are underclassman Brett Carrington and Johannes Grahn. Carrington, a freshman forward leads the team with 5 goals and 12 points along with 2 assists. Sophomore forward Johannes Grahn is second in the team with four goals and 10 points, while also tallying 2 assists.

Between the posts, playing time has been split between Freshman Greg Cumpstone and Sophomore James Winters. Cumpstone has recorded 20 saves, allowing 10 goals with a goal against average of 1.91 on the season. Winters has recorded 29 saves, allowing 13 goals with a goal against average of 1.75.

The Monarchs are coming off a 1-0 CAA victory against the Panthers of Georgia State. Steffan Rabben scored the lone goal with an assist from Dylan Montambo. Rabben and T.J. Beaulieu are leading the offensive attack for ODU. Rabben leads the team in goals with five and is second in points with 10. Beaulieu is second on the team in goals with four, but is first on team in assists with four and points with 12.

Steffan Rabben is ranked second in the CAA in goals, while T.J. Beaulieu is ranked third in the league with assists and second with total number of points.In goal, Michael Roura has allowed a total of six goals, with 21 saves and a goal against average of 0.83 in seven games.

The Monarchs return home Wednesday night, Oct. 22nd when they host the Dukesof James Madison in a 7 p.m. contest at the ODU Soccer Complex.
