KINGS POINT, N.Y. -- ODU junior sailor Kyle Rogachenko qualified for the ICSA Singlehanded National Championships this weekend with a fourth place finish at the Carl van Duyne Trophy. The Monarch slid up six slots on the second day with a great day of sailing and grabbed the fourth and final qualifying position at the MAISA Championship regatta. He finished with 112 total points and four wins in the 18-race event.
Rogachenko qualifies for his first trip to the national championship with the fourth place effort.
On the second day, he never finished out of the top nine boats in the 18-person event. He added four victories and two seconds on the day to make a move up the leaderboard. The junior was in 10th place after the first day, but the 37-point second day was the best in the fleet.
