NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion (5-4-2/2-1-1) and Towson (6-3-1/2-1-1) battled to a 0-0 drawAfter two overtime periods and 110 minutesSaturday evening at the ODU Soccer Complex, in a rematch of last year CAA Championship.
The Monarchs outshot the Tigers, 18-11, but Towson led 4-3 on shots on goal. ODU juniorSteffen Rabben (Valdres, Norway) had all three of the Monarchs shots on goal, while Nino Mangione led theTigers with two.
John Steele had two saves for Towson, but it was his teammate Nicolas Bermudez Roa whoCame in from no where to block Steffan Rabben's shot with 2:25 left in regulation. ODU'sFreshman Keeper Michael Roura(Middletown, NJ.) had four saves on the evening, including a big one in overtimeagainst Nino Mangione.
Last year, these same two teams battled to a 0-0 draw in the CAA finals with the Monarchswinning on penalty kicks.
ODU returns to action Wednesday in Atlanta, GA., when they take on Georgia State.
