NORFOLK, Va. -- Get your first glimpse of the 2008-09 Old Dominion Lady Monarchs in action at the annual Blue-White Game. The Blue-White Game will take place on Sunday, October 26th at 3:00 p.m. Admission is free.
Current and future Lady Monarch Pride members are also invited to the first Lady Monarch Pride meeting for 2008-09 to be held in conjunction with the Blue-White Game. The meeting will begin with an opportunity for Pride members and prospective members to attend the shoot-around from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the Constant Center.
Immediately following the shoot-around, members are invited to attend the pre-game meal with the team and have an opportunity to meet the new student-athletes and reconnect with the returning members of the squad. The 2008-09 Lady Monarchs return eight letterwinners and two starters from last year's "Sweet 16" team. Among the returnees are Second Team All-CAA honoree, CAA leading shot blocker, and Lady Monarch leading rebounder senior forward/center Tiffany Green (Chesapeake, Va.), CAA assist leader senior guard Jazzmin Walters (Norfolk, Va.), and Third Team All-CAA selection and CAA field goal percentage leader junior Jessica Canady (Williamsburg, Va.).
The Old Dominion women's basketball schedule, year-in and year-out remains one of most competitive in the country, and includes four opponents that reached NCAA last year, including national champion Tennessee and former champion Maryland, four WNIT participants, among them runner-up Michigan State, a season-opening tournament at Texas, and a challenging CAA slate. The Lady Monarchs are currently riding a 26-game home win streak that is tied for the nation's longest active win streak.
