PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Behind a six-point effort from the senior class, Old Dominion (9-2/3-1)defeated the Drexel Dragons (5-6/0-3) by the final of 2-1. Seniors Katie Watson, Shavon Knight and Janna Pearson led the way as Watson scored the game-winning goal and had an assist, Knight added her eighth goal of the season and Pearson assisted for a third time this season. Junior Jodi Knorowski also had an assist in the game as ODU is now 7-0 all-time against Drexel.

The Dragons came out aggressively in the first half, taking three shots in the first seven minutes. ODU would rebound, though, and follow with the next seven shots, including Knight's goal in the 20th minute of play. Watson trapped the ball outside the box and sent a pass to Pearson inside, who flicked the ball across the goalmouth to Knight for the score.

The Dragons best chance in the first half would come just a few minutes later, as Jessica Lawall found herself open at the top of the box and sent a low line drive toward the goal, but senior goalkeeper Lauren Tupman made the stop.

The very next possession for ODU, Knorowski took her space in the midfield before sending a pass ahead to Watson. The ball skipped under the legs of the defender and Watson was one-on-one with the keeper. She capitalized with a hard shot over the Drexel keeper for the eventual gamewinner.

In the second half, Drexel would cut the lead in half with a goal from leading scorer Jenna Lindsay. She found herself open in the box and lofted a shot into the back corner for the score.

ODU would keep pressuring the Drexel defense, taking 21 shots in the game, including nine on net. Drexel managed just eight shots in the game, including just one on-goal.

With just five minutes remaining in the game, the ODU defense managed to stop four straight corner kicks without allowing a shot.

For the Lady Monarchs, Knight led the way with six shots, including four on-goal and a goal. Watson had a goal and an assist. With the scores, both Knight and Watson eclipse the 20-point mark for the second time in their careers. Knight leads the team with 21 (8g, 5a) and Watson is right behind with 20 (8g, 4a). Knorowski continued her hot play of late, with assists in three of the last four games.

The team takes the field next at Delaware on Sunday at 1:00 pm. The Fightin' Blue Hens battled to a double overtime loss with William & Mary tonight.
