NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion senior defender Elizabeth Brewster (Clifton, Va.) was named to the SOCCER BUZZ Elite Team of the Week, recognizing the best weekly performances in women's soccer nationally. In two come-from-behind overtime victories this weekend, Brewster notched a game winning goal, an assist and helped maintain a solid defense while on the road. She was also named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Brewster knocked home a dramatic gamewinning goal at George Washington University with no time remaining in the first overtime period. Senior Shavon Knight grabbed the ball for a corner kick and with less than ten seconds remaining sent a ball into the box that the Colonials were able to clear to the top of the box. As the countdown continued, Lizzy flew down the middle of the field and unleashed a laser into the back of the net just as the horn sounded the end of the period.

Brewster also had an assist on the game-tying goal in the game against GWU. She sent a long ball over the top of the defense to freshman Victoria Johnson in the 74th minute of play for the goal.

Against Loyola College, the ODU defense, led in part by Brewster, allowed just six shots all game, including just two after the half. The Old Dominion defense has allowed just three goals so far this season, giving up just over seven shots per contest. The Greyhounds were unable to get a shot off in the final 30 minutes of the game.

Brewster and the Lady Monarchs return home for five of the next six games, starting with their home opener this weekend. On Friday, September 5, ODU plays host to Liberty (0-2) at 7:00 pm and on Sunday, September 7, ODU will host Elon (1-1) at 1:00 pm.
