Norfolk, Va. - The Lady Monarchs of ODU wrapped up the Hampton Roads Open Tournament on Sunday with sophomores Nadine Fahoum and Marija Citic winning their respective brackets. Fahoum won the A singles bracket, while Citic captured the C singles bracket.
The reigning CAA Rookie of the Year, Fahoum defeated Mihaela Bunea of VCU in one semifinal but fellow Lady Monarch Charleen Haarhoff fell in the other to Katie Kargle of William & Mary, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5). Although Kargl prevented an all ODU final, she was no match for Fahoum who cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 to close out the championship match.
Citic rolled through two opponents from Kennesaw State in straight sets on her way to capturing her title. In the semifinals she defeated Morgan Carney 6-3, 6-3 and Mackenzie Swindall fell to Citic in the finals 6-4, 6-4.
