KINGS POINT, N.Y. -- After nine completed races in three divisions of sailing, the Old Dominion sailing team finished 14th at the Nevins Trophy Regatta. The wind never filled in on Sunday, halting racing and awarding Boston College the win, leading after day one and nine races. Senior Alissa Ayres and junior Kyle Rogachenko sailed to 12th place in A division.
ODU finished in 14th overall with 294 total points. Ayres and Rogachenko finished in 12th place in A division with 93 points, seniors Michael Brown and Jaclyn Finney combined for a 16th place finish in B division with 104 points and John Shockey sailed singlehanded in C division to 12th place with 97 points.
Ayres and Rogachenko finished with a team-high 2nd place effort in the final race of the regatta. They added three more top ten finishes on day one.
In B division, Brown and Finney had five top ten finishes including a fifth place effort in race three.
Shockey had four top tens in nine races with a sixth place effort in race four.
ODU also sailed in the New York Maritime Fall Open this weekend, finishing 6th overall.
