NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion senior Elizabeth Brewster was named the CAA Player of the Week on Tuesday, after her performances in the two come-from-behind overtime victories this weekend. Brewster knocked home a dramatic gamewinning goal at George Washington University with no time remaining in the first overtime period and helped anchor the ODU defense in both games. It is the second time a Lady Monarch has been honored this season.

Against George Washington University, the Lady Monarchs had control of the ball with little time left when the ball crossed the goal line awarding ODU a corner kick. Senior Shavon Knight grabbed the ball and with less than ten seconds remaining sent a ball into the box that the Colonials were able to clear to the top of the box. As the countdown continued, Lizzy flew down the middle of the field and unleashed a laser into the back of the net just as the horn sounded the end of the period.

Brewster also had an assist on the game-tying goal in the game against GWU. She sent a long ball over the top of the defense to freshman Victoria Johnson in the 74th minute of play for the goal.

Against Loyola College, the ODU defense, led in part by Brewster, allowed just six shots all game, including just two after the half. The Old Dominion defense has allowed just three goals so far this season, giving up just over seven shots per contest.

This is the first time the senior defender has been honored as the League Player of the Week.
