FLORENCE, SC- Rain and lightning interrupted the second round of the 24th-annual Raines Development Group Intercollegiate men's golf tournament on Monday (Sept. 15). Four teams had completed their second round but 14 other squads were ushered from course with anywhere from one to three holes left to play.

The second round will be completed on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m., with a shutout start to the third and final round to follow immediately afterwards.

The 54-hole event is being played on the par-72, 7,062-yard Country Club of South Carolina course.

Georgia Southern University led by 11 strokes after the opening round as the Eagles carded a 9-under-par 279 team score. Each of the Georgia Southern golfers shot a 71 or better score.

Winthrop University and East Carolina University are tied for second position 11 strokes back at 290. Host Francis Marion University is in ninth place after an opening-round 296.

Logan Blondell of Georgia Southern and Andres Cuenca of Western Carolina are tied for the individual lead after both shot 4-under 68 scores over the first 18 holes. Kelly Manders (Winthrop) and Spencer Fulford (Ga. So.) are tied for third at 3-under 69.

Francis Marion's Christopher Couch and Peter McGibney are tied for 17th position after opening-round even-par 72 scores. Three other Patriot golfers, Andrew Pitcher, Keith Crowley, and Ronan O'Connor, carded 76 tallies over the first 18 holes.

FMU's Matt Jackson (76) and Brian Hill (78) are competing as individuals with no team affiliation.
