ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- ODU swept the trio of events entered on the first weekend of the sailing season with a first and second place finish at the Riley Cup, a first, second and fourth place finish at the ODU/BYO Laser Radial and a win of the Laser South #1. Junior Kyle Rogachenko won the Laser South #1 by seven points on Sunday, while two other Monarch sailors finished in the top ten.

Rogachenko had an unbelievable second day of sailing, posting just 23 points in 10 races to take the lead for good. In second by 20 points after the first day of racing, he managed a 27-point swing on Georgetown sailor Charlie Buckingham for the win. The ODU sophomore managed five wins on the weekend and never finished outside of the top seven boats. He finished strong with a first, second or third in the last five races giving him a final tally of 63 total points.

John and Kevin Shockey also placed in the top ten at the event for ODU, finishing 8th and 9th respectively. John posted a score of 152 points with one second place finish and a top ten finish in 17 of the 20 completed races. Kevin finished 9th with 166 points after posting top ten finishes in 15 of the 20 completed races.
