Eric Onesi Tied For First Round Lead At the Eastern Amateur

PORTSMOUTH, VA--Eric Onesi (Bear, DE.) shot a first round 63 Thursday and is tiedfor first place with JMU's Scott Marino at the Eastern Amateur. Fellow Monarch JohnMurphy shot a 66 and is tied for sixth.

Onesi, a two-time All-CAA selection shot a 32 on the front and 31 on the back nine. He andMarino are two strokes ahead of Jude Eustaquilo of Lake Worth, FL, DanHurley of Leesbug, VA, and Roger Newsom of Virginia Beach.

Stan Guerrero (Tijuana, Mexico), who graduated in May was named ODU's Male Athlete of the Year and a three-time All-CAA selection shot a 68 in the first round.

The tournament is being played at Elizabeth Manor in Portsmouth, Va.Onesi won the Delaware Open earlier this week by 13 strokes.
