NORFOLK, Va. - Former Lady Monarch women's basketball forward Megan Pym (Newfield, N.Y.) has been awarded the Frank Batten College of Engineering and Technology Lee M. Klinefelter Award for Overall Excellence in Engineering and Technology.
The yearly Klinefelter Award is given to a senior engineering technology student who has demonstrated superior performance academically and in extracurricular activities. Pym holds a 3.54 grade point average in civil engineering technology.
The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Scholar-Athlete for women's basketball, Pym was a two-time First Team CAA All-Academic pick and a four-time recipient of the CAA Commissioner's Academic Award.
Pym, who is also a Dean's List student, started all 36 games during the 2007-08 season for an Old Dominion squad that captured its 17th straight CAA championship and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. She scored double figures 13 times and averaged 9.0 points per game. Pym was second on the team and ranked 11th in the CAA in rebounding with 7.2 boards per contest. She was also third in the conference in blocked shots with 52.
