Georgia State Beats ODU With Homer In The Ninth

NORFOLK, VA--Bradley Logan's two-out three-run homer in the top of the ninthlifted the Panthers of Georgia State (31-21/11-15) to a 5-4 Colonial Athletic Associationwin over Old Dominion (23-23/13-12) Sunday afternoon.

ODU took a 4-2 lead into the ninth when the Panthers Jean Michael Rochon-Salvas and Chase Childers got back-to-back two out singles. Bradley then homered to center to givethe Panthers the 5-4 lead.

Georgia State relief pitcher Bobby Bennett then retired the Monarchs in order to pickup his second win of the season. ODU's Ryan Bergh, who ranks second in the CAA in ERA pitched nine innings, allowing 12 hits, four walks and three strikeouts. GeorgiaState starter Drew Grant retired ODU in order until Chris Keenan singled in the thirdwith two outs.

ODU tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth when Gerard Hall doubled home Jake McAloose.Chris Keenan's sacrifice fly plated Hall from third. In the sixth inning Max Most homerto rightfield to give ODU a 3-2 lead and in the seventh Jimmy Miles singled to scoreChris Keenan.

Max Most and Chris Keenan each had two hits for ODU on the day, while GeorgiaState was led by Rochon-Salvas and Matt van Horn with three hits each. GSU has12 hits on the day.

ODU finishes its home stand Tuesday with a doubleheader. The Monarchs host Richmond at 2:30, then Delaware State at 7 p.m. ODU then travels to #29 UNC Wilmington for the final regular season CAA series.
