No. 28 ECU Rallies To Defeat Monarchs, 4-2

GREENVILLE, NC--The 28th ranked East Carolina Pirates (22-9) rallied for three runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to defeat Old Dominion (15-15), 4-2 Tuesday night, atClark-LeClair Stadium.

ODU scored first in the second inning when Jake McAloose doubled and later scored onChris Keenan's groundout. In the third inning, Max Most walked, stole second and camehome on Bryan Cipolla's single. It was Cipolla's team leading 32nd RBI of the season.

In the bottom of the sixth, Stephen Batts drew a walk and Corey Kemp doubled down the rightfield line. Jamie Ray then hit his first homerun of the season to left giving thePirates a 3-2 lead. ECU added one more in the seventh with the bases loaded, Kemp walked to force home Trent Whitehead.

Max Most and Bryan Cipolla led ODU with two hits each on the night.

The ODU-Radford game scheduled for Wednesday in Radford, Va., has been postponed and will be moved to May 7th as part of a doubleheader at the Bud Metheny Complex.

ODU returns to action this weekend with a three-game CAA series at Towson beginningFriday at 3 p.m.
