THROGGS NECK, N.Y. -- Behind a first place effort in B division with Alan Alkins and John Shockey at the helm, ODU finished with another top five effort at the MAISA Spring Open, finishing fourth overall. The pair never finished out of the top six boats at the 14-team regatta.
Alkins and Shockey finished ahead of the fleet three times, and were among the top three boats to finish eight of the 14 completed races. They finished six points ahead of the second place boat, with 48 total points.
In A division, Thomas O'Bryan and Amanda Rendall finished 8th with 101 total points. They won a race and were among the top five boats in three races and only had one race on each day where they slipped out of the top ten.
It was the 17th top five team effort of the season.
