NORFOLK, Va. -- The 2007-08 Old Dominion women's basketball team finished the season 10th in the ESPN/USA Today Women's Coaches Poll released on Wednesday.
The Lady Monarchs, who captured their 17th straight Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) title and danced to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA Tournament, finished the year with a 31-5 record. It was Old Dominion's best record since the 1998-97 season. Four of the Lady Monarchs' five losses came against team that reached this year's Final Four (Connecticut, Stanford, Tennessee).
The No. 10 ranking is Old Dominion's highest ranking in the Coaches' Poll this season, matching the Lady Monarchs' highest ranked in the Associated Press the week of February 18th.
The Lady Monarchs last cracked the ESPN/USA Today Poll's Top Ten in 2002 when Old Dominion ranked seventh in the final poll.
