Norfolk, Va. - Senior Ryan Bergh tossed his first career complete game and designated hitter Bryan Cippolla drove in two runs to lead the Monarchs of Old Dominion to a 6-2 victory over visiting James Madison Sunday afternoon. The Monarchs (12-10, 5-4 CAA) became the first team this season to hand James Madison consecutive losses after also defeating the Dukes on Saturday.

James Madison (15-6, 9-3 CAA) struck first in the top of the second with three consecutive singles, the last of which came off the bat of shortstop Mike Fabiaschi scoring Lee Bujakowski. A wild pitch by ODU starter Ryan Bergh scored another run for the Dukes who led 2-0.

An RBI double by Monarch catcher Edgar Hernandez put the Monarchs on the board in the bottom of the second, and they took a 3-1 lead in their next at bat behind a two-run single to right by Cipolla.

ODU added to its lead with two runs in the sixth on back-to-back RBI doubles by Chris Buss and Jake McAloose.

Five different Monarchs drove in runs on the day and Anthony Shawler went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored to lift his batting average to a team-best .405.
