TOURNAMENT UPDATE: RS Freshman James Nicholson One Win Away From All-American Status

March 21, 2008

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Three more Monarchs' hopes of reaching the podium at the 2008 NCAA Wrestling Tournament were stopped short on Saturday morning, but redshirt freshman James Nicholson (Des Moines, Iowa) is just one win away from All-American status. Kyle Hutter (133), Ryan Williams (141), and Chris Brown (165) were all eliminated for the Monarchs.

#10 seed Nicholson will return to the mat at 7:00 pm tonight, as he'll face #9 seed Rollie Peterkin (Penn). The University of Pennsylvania wrestler grabbed a 17-1 technical fall in the opening round before #8 seed Brandon Precin dropped him 3-8. He then won back-to-back shutouts in the wrestlebacks, 4-0 and 3-0, to advance to face Nicholson.

The winner of the bout will be a 2008 All-American as a top eight finisher in their weight class. Live-Text Updates and all championship information can be found at www.intermatwrestle.com.
