NORFOLK, Va. -- The 2008 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament bracket has been revealed and joining the Lady Monarchs at the Ted Constant Convocation Center this weekend will be Liberty, Virginia, UC Santa Barbara, North Carolina, Bucknell, Georgia, and Iowa.

First round action will begin on Sunday, March 23rd beginning with top-seeded North Carolina (30-2) of the New Orleans region facing sixteenth-seeded Bucknell (16-15) at noon on ESPN2 followed by eighth-seeded Georgia (22-9) taking on ninth-seeded Iowa (21-10). In the Greensboro region, fifth-seeded Old Dominion will tip-off at 7:00 p.m. in front of the ESPN2 cameras against the number 12 seed, Liberty (28-3), followed by fourth-seeded Virginia (23-9) against thirteenth-seeded UC Santa Barbara (23-7) on the deuce as well.

The second round will be played on the night of Tuesday, March 25th.

The Old Dominion women's basketball team won its NCAA record 17th straight consecutive Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) title on Sunday coming back from an 18-point first half deficit to defeat third-seeded Virginia Commonwealth, 71-64. The Lady Monarchs will be making their 25th appearance in the dance sporting a 29-4 overall record. Their 29 wins are the most since the 1999-2000 season.

The Lady Monarchs, who have compiled a 32-23 in NCAA Tournament action, are a fifth seed, the highest seeding for the team since 2000. Old Dominion will be looking to pick up its first tournament win since 2002, when they advanced to the "Elite Eight" against eventual national champion, Connecticut. Old Dominion is 2-3 against the field of 64 with victories over No. 9 Purdue and No. 4 Vanderbilt. This will be the Lady Monarchs 25th appearance in the tournament.

Senior T.J. Jordan (Portsmouth, Va.), Old Dominion and the CAA's all-time leading three-point shooter, leads the Lady Monarchs averaging 13.2 points per game along with a career mark of 318 three-pointers made. Joining Jordan in double figures are junior Tiffany Green (Chesapeake, Va.) and sophomore sixth lady Jessica Canady (Williamsburg, Va.). Green averages 11.3 points per contest along with a team-leading 7.5 boards per game. Canady comes off the Lady Monarchs pouring in 10.9 points per game.

Liberty, who has won 11 straight Big South titles, comes to the Ted Constant Convocation Center with a 28-3 record, matching the program and Big South record for victories in a season. The Flames are led by triplets Megan Frazee, Moriah Frazee, and Molly Frazee. Megan averaged a team-leading 18.6 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.

Old Dominion and Liberty were also first round opponents in 1997. That year the Lady Monarchs defeated the Flames, 102-52, en-route to its run to the NCAA championship game.
