WILLIAMSBURG, VA- William and Mary (15-4/7-2) defeated Old Dominion (10-7/3-3) Sunday afternoon, 7-4. Anthony Shawler led ODU's hitting attack with three hits andtwo runs batted in. The Monarchs return to action Tuesday night when they host Maryland at 7 p.m.
The Monarch runs came in the third on Anthony Shawler's single which plated Max Most. In the eighth Chris Buss doubled home Shawler and Buss would later score on a passed ball. In the ODU ninth, Brian Cipolla doubled and came home on Shawler's double. Bryan Cipolla finished withtwo hits on the day.
Shawler led ODU for the week with a .550 batting average which included two homers and 11 runs batted in. Max Most was second at .444 with five runs scored.
Robbie Nickle led the Tribe with three RBI's on the day which included a two-run homerin the fourth and an RBI single in the seventh. Ben Guez also hit a solo homer in the bottom of the first inning as William and Mary swept the three-game CAA series.
The Tribe's starting pitcher Tim Norton pitched eight innings with five strikeouts,six walks, six hits and three runs for is third win of the season.
