Results

NORFOLK, Va. -- The ODU coed sailors are in third place after the first day of the South #1 regatta, hosted at Old Dominion in 2008. The B division sailors for the Monarchs, Alan Alkins and Wick Smith, are tied for first in B division, after three straight second place finishes to close out the day. Heading into the second day of the ODU Open neither division finished out of the top five boats in any race thus far.

Sophomore skipper Alkins and his redshirt junior crew Smith are tied for first in B division with three second place finishes and a fourth place effort, tallying 11 total points. They are tied with the St. Mary's and Georgetown pairs.

In A division, junior skipper Chip Lollar sailed with freshman Kaitlyn Paulsen to a third place effort, with 15 total points. They finished with a day-high third place finish and three fourths.

With 26 total points, the Old Dominion team is just nine points behind St. Mary's College for the overall lead.
