2008 Colonial Athletic Association Swimming And Diving Championships Get Underway On Wednesday

FAIRFAX, Va. -- The Old Dominion men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to the pool this week at the 2008 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Swimming & Diving Championships being held on the campus of George Mason.

The men's squad enters championships action with a perfect 10-0 record on the season which included wins over CAA opponents Towson, Delaware, George Mason, William & Mary, and last year's champion, UNC-Wilmington. Diver Noah Scully has been a four-time CAA Diver of the Week and has captured the top 1 meter score among all CAA divers. All-CAA performer Patrik Balint, a two-time recipient of CAA Swimmer of the Week accolades, has also posted the conference's best time of the year in the 100 back.

The women's squad takes to the pool having collected 6-5 overall mark. Rookie April Barrientos has made an immediate impact in her first season on the team. Barrientos set and reset ODU's 100 back time, which is also the top performance in the event by any female CAA swimmer this season. She also has the conference's second fastest 200 back time as well. The Lady Monarchs' Jennifer Sargent has also posted the CAA's top time in the 200 breast
